چکیده
Competition among component crops in an intercropping system is important factor that influences productivity. To realize the benefit of terms higher productivity per unit area, competitive behaviour needs to be quantified. As such, experiment was conducted determine cassava-legume-based systems. The a factorial randomized complete design with three replications. treatments consisted seven cropping associations and two spatial arrangements. result shows both land equivalent ratio area time greater than one for cassava-soybean compared other In general, across agro-climatic zones. case relative crowding coefficient, indices were cassava legumes also Also, on average when intercropped using 2 m x 0.5 arrangement. further monetary advantage index all systems monocropping. conclusion, it shown that, advantageous economic indices.

Intercropping studies with annual crops
This pape r tries to illustrate how beneficial interactions between crops can be exploited to increase the overall output of a cropping system. Growth studies with sorghum/pigeonpea and mil let /groundnut a re described to show how intercropping systems can achieve much larger yields than sole crops by using environmental resources more fully over t ime or more efficiently in space. متن کاملPredicting Feature Interactions in Component-Based Systems
Software component technologies support assembly of systems from binary component implementations that may have been created in isolation from one and another. While these technologies provide assistance in wiring components together they fail to provide support for predicting the quality and behavior of configurations of components prior to actual system composition. We believe that all qualit...
متن کاملHow good is the turbid medium-based approach for accounting for light partitioning in contrasted grass--legume intercropping systems?
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Most studies dealing with light partitioning in intercropping systems have used statistical models based on the turbid medium approach, thus assuming homogeneous canopies. However, these models could not be directly validated although spatial heterogeneities could arise in such canopies. The aim of the present study was to assess the ability of the turbid medium approach to ...
متن کاملOrphan legume crops enter the genomics era!
Many of the world's most important food legumes are grown in arid and semi-arid regions of Africa and Asia, where crop productivity is hampered by biotic and abiotic stresses. Until recently, these crops have also suffered from a dearth of genomic and molecular-genetic resources and thus were 'orphans' of the genome revolution. However, the community of legume researchers has begun a concerted ...
متن کاملIntercropping Competition between Apple Trees and Crops in Agroforestry Systems on the Loess Plateau of China
Agroforestry has been widely practiced in the Loess Plateau region of China because of its prominent effects in reducing soil and water losses, improving land-use efficiency and increasing economic returns. However, the agroforestry practices may lead to competition between crops and trees for underground soil moisture and nutrients, and the trees on the canopy layer may also lead to shortage o...
